Proposing to Girlfriend; Will anyone be at the Admirals Club in DFW on Sunday morning (Dec 11)?

Discussion in 'American Airlines | AAdvantage' started by KSU Fan, Dec 5, 2011.  |  Print Topic

  1. I'm new to this site, so I'm not sure where this should go, but I figured I'd give it a shot here. I'll be proposing to my girlfriend in Seattle on Saturday, December 10 and then we're leaving SEA at 11:25 PM, arriving DFW at 5:00 am. Our next flight leaves at 6:40 AM, and I was wondering if anyone with an Admirals Club membership would be at DFW who would allow the 2 of us to be their guests in the Admirals Club so that we could get a quick shower. We could meet you at whichever Admirals Club is convenient for you. This would really add to the proposal trip, and would mean a great deal to both me and her as we'll be heading straight to church from the airport when we arrive home. A shower would incredible. I've considered buying the day pass, but I didn't feel like $50/person was worth it for a shower on such a quick layover. If any of you have any other suggestions, please let me know. Thank you so much!

I have heard of bridal showers and baby showers, but an admiral club shower?! :)

    Congratulations and good luck!

Congratulations and good luck. And for what is hopefully a memorable once in a lifetime experience, I say spring for what makes it special and comfortable for both you and her. ;)

Congrats! If you are traveling a lot this month, maybe a one-month membership would be worth it (you can bring a guest, as it functions like a normal membership).

The Club in terminal D, run by DFW airport, is $35/per person and includes shower facilities.

    Congrats!

Wandering Aramean's recently added functionality to his Lounge Guide for this exact reason. It's not widely used yet, so I don't know if you'll be successful in finding a sponsor, but it's worth a shot! I think Seth considers it still in beta (see http://milepoint.com/forums/posts/986824/ for details and current limitations).

This page shows the DFW lounges: http://www.wandr.me/Lounges.aspx/Dallas-Fort-Worth-Intl (DFW)/. Create an account and/or log in to the site (top right) and "Add a Visit" for the club(s) you're interested in. You can create a new "visit" for each lounge you want to access. For "How many guests," you'd select "need 2."

If a shower is what you're after, consider the A concourse AC. Best showers I've ever used, anywhere, ever. And I'm not overstating. I'll be through DFW tomorrow, but not on Sunday I'm afraid.

Agree on the A terminal AC. OP - Are you asking for two showers or one?

Congrats. Also agree with everyone about the terminal A AC showers, they are great. You should note that the AC's open at 5:30am in A,C,D and 8am in B. sorry I won't be there on Sunday morning.

    Yes.

Overhead rain shower head with no flow restrictor, plus two dual shower heads on each side. Best shower at any club, period! Enough that I'll roll out of bed and head to AUS "unclean" for the trip to DFW, knowing I can just clean up there!

As another MP'er is known to say, "happy wife, happy life." Get used to that now, and get the dang day pass. Dont' worry about forking out the $$ for it, don't worry that she may not "get it" as to that cost, just suck it in, pay up, and know it will pay back in spades...someday.

Another fan of the showers at A. Best in the system, IMHO. You'll find yourselves making "Home Depot" your bridal registry so your friends can make sure you have all the parts to build your own in your house.

And, if you need some peace/quiet whilst there, go to the area where the "old" arrivals lounge used to be. If you've just gotten off of the lifts (elevators) and are facing the desk, behind you, on your riight, is the entrance. Few know it's there. Thus, it gets little traffic.

Congrats. Be sure to get a Wi-fi card access card when you check in to the Admirals Club so you can update your Facebook status.

I still think a single monthly pass is way better than two day passes. And $1 cheaper!

Let me tell you how much a wedding costs, even if you try to keep it simple.....

$50 x 2 is nothing, in comparison. Spring for the passes if no one volunteers.
