Other forums are reporting that this is dead. I emailed, but I haven't heard back. I did get a text ad from them this morning though.

Here is the email I received from Renee:

"Thank you for your e-mail. If this is in regards to the Loyalty Program Promotion of 10,000 points, unfortunately the promotion has reached its maximum membership as of Friday, February 18, 2011. Therefore, the promotion/points are no longer available.
Thank you for your loyalty to the Hampton brand."

And here is the email I sent to Hilton this morning:

    To Whom It May Concern:

I hope this email finds you well. I am a very loyal user of Hilton Hotels, and I have always had a great experience with while dealing with Hilton. I am expecting this issue to be no different, as Hilton has an outstanding reputation for taking care of it's customers.

Yesterday I applied for a 10,000 bonus points offer by texting HAMPTON to the number 40491, so that I could receive further marketing texts. Below is the email response I received from Renee Snoke, who is a Hilton employee:

"Thank you for your e-mail. If this is in regards to the Loyalty Program Promotion of 10,000 points, unfortunately the promotion has reached its maximum membership as of Friday, February 18, 2011. Therefore, the promotion/points are no longer available.
Thank you for your loyalty to the Hampton brand. "

There was never any mention of this promo ending when I called or when I checked Hilton's Facebook Page. I'm sure that you can understand my disappointment with this, and I am sure this will be rectified soon.

    Thanks in advance.

    Yours Very Truly,

    Len Williams

I haven't heard back at yet. I sent an email to her yesterday. I look forward to hearing what hilton replies.

Sounds like there are going to be some very unhappy people. Perhaps a few BBB claims.

I don't know if I'll contest this one. I don't want her to lose her job (if this was her idea).

    Just received this text message:

"Hampton Inn: Send your name and HH number to hamptonltp@hotmail.com. You'll receive your 10k HH points after your first stay at either participating hotel."

    I just received this text:

"Hampton Inn: Send your name and HH number to hamptonltp@hotmail.com. You'll receive your 10K HH points at your first stay at either participating hotel."

    Um, what? A hotmail address?

And I think the participating hotels are the two Hamptons in the Boston area.

    Boo and oh well.

Yup - these two hotels will never see a stay from me. Granted, it wouldn't have happened anyway, but this is bad news.

  15. The facebook page has been updated now... there are going to be some angry people if Hilton does not make this right...

Think Hilton would take ownership of the problem? I'm guessing they know about it, but the cost for the points likely comes from that one hotel, and they may be out of business if they do the right thing. So would Hilton want to take on that burden for one rouge FB post?

  17. I think they should for at least elite members... goodwill goes a long way and the cost of 10k points may be worth keeping your best customers happy. Then again, I don't have any insight into Hilton management, so who knows!

I'll admit, when I saw this promo, I opened an account for my wife immediately. So she had no existing "loyalty" except on stays with me.

But I'm an elite member. And I want my points.

They should never have started what they can't finish.

I sent a nicely worded email complaint to Hilton about the requirement for a stay in order to earn the 10K points. I regularly schedule group meetings at Hilton and I mentioned that in my letter and provided my hHonors #.

Over on the other board someone posted that they had called the DDesk and they said they were " able to quickly find the hotel website with the offer listed and stated that the hotel needs to respond to her office [Diamond desk] & will be required to respond with-in 72 hours. In her opinion, the hotel must give the 10k points as promised."

Will be interesting to see what happens.

Yeah - I read that. It's a little second-hand, and if it's from the initial phone rep who answered, then I'm not sure that person can force these hotels to be accountable.

In fact, it almost makes the problem seem a little systemic over at Hilton. People assume a little too much power there, maybe.

I think many of us feel like we would pursue this all the way if it were with Hilton directly, but we're a little less inclined since it's with the hotel itself. We're ready to take freebies from a big corporation because they won't notice the cost. But if it comes from the little guy, where the cost is significant, we'll be a little more likely to let it slide.

  23. I guess the promo still exists if you make a stay?... It was just a little misleading as originally it appeared to be 10k just for texting the number
