Is it possible to show beneath the status where the user is from and somehow show if the user is male or female? Thx

If you click on a handle, gender shows up in the popup.

A better way to do it, IMO. The information is there and easily accessible if one wants to find it, but clutter is reduced.

    Cheers.

Its way to much work to click on every user.

The TSA likes to click on every user, why should we be any different?

I think this page describes it: http://www.useit.com/alertbox/progressive-disclosure.html

Unlike the TSA, I don't thnk I need to know every user's gender or location. It can at times be useful when offering advice, but I think making it easily accessible in a popup is sufficient for my needs. Clearly, other people will have different preferences, and if the majority wanted it shown all the time, I could live with it as well.

What about loyalty program elite statuses -- do people find that they should appear under the avatar?

It's kind of intriguing that the status isn't posted anywhere in the profile. So, you know your own status, but you don't have a DYKWIA card. Interesting how it's being handled.

That's how I have been looking at it, and I don't know if it's intentional or a feature that's meant to come later. Obviously, some members have already found a solution by putting the information in their signature.

I haven't noticed that yet. None of the silvers have any sign anywhere indicating it, and I haven't seen it done by any of the valued contributors or other early tiers.

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but what is "Status Message" in Personal Details? I've typed something to test how it works and now I don't seem to be able to get rid of it!

And the TSA definitely know the user's gender by the time they're through.

In the chat window, it shows your status. Default is "available" but you can change it. To get rid of it, type something else, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "save".

I don't think so because what I typed in "Status Message" doesn't show up. Perhaps it doesn't matter if no one else can see it but I'm just curious.

OK thanks, I'll try. I typed spaces to see if the original message will disappear but it hasn't.

I tested that, spaces won't work, you need some kind of characters in there. Two dashers or underscores work, I didn't test to see if a single character (like a . ) would work.

"Excuse me, what about TSA? Can you step over here please. We need to ask you to something for us. Please take your right hand and pat your head. With your left hand rub your tummy in circles. Please do this for 30 seconds. Once you have done it, you may go and enjoy your flight. Thank you." (TSA agent walks way) [IMG]

That's right. It's not the signature, it's different. The status is displayed in the info box you get after click on the user's name or avatar. I think you will get an alert if a user you follow changes his/her status. Kind of like FB status in a way ...
