I'm doing some research on credit card and customer retention practices. Has anyone here received a proactive offer from you credit card company that meets one of the following circumstances?

    1. Your annual fee is about to come due
    2. Your spend levels have fallen significantly or you've gone inactive
    3. You recently made a large points redemption
    4. Other bahviour changes

What type offer was it? Extra points, a gift, a spend hurdle, etc?

    Thanks!

LOL, my first thought when I read the subject title was "When did that skin care/zit cream start a credit card?" :)

I think the answer will be the same as the one to the question: Has anyone had their cable company/cell phone carrier just lower rates to the new current plans, without needing a phone call?

    In short, no chance.

In my experience (which is extremely limited compared to many people here) those offers come when you call to cancel the card just before/after the annual fee comes due.

A few months ago I received a mailer from BofA (Alaska Visa) offering me a $15 gift card (I chose Target) for making at least one utility payment. I paid a portion of my phone bill and got the gift card this week. So it does happen from time to time.

If you have bad skin and need airlines miles. Sign up for the Proactive Platinium CC. Just spent $1000 in three month on skin cream and recieve 50000 mile! Lol

Well, that's like the Chase BA and Barclays US deals for extra miles for certain levels of spending, long after the signup bonuses. But those aren't exactly pro-active retention bonuses.

I was just answering the OP's question
"2. Your spend levels have fallen significantly or you've gone inactive"
"What type offer was it? Extra points, a gift, a spend hurdle, etc?"

Thanks, this is a great example.

Another example, I got a camera memory chip from AMEX the month before my annual fee was due
