USA Today: US Airways offers elite perks to all fliers, for a fee
US Airways PreferredAccess LINK
That's not a real perk when a fee is involved to receive something " extra " IMHO! It's called paid for services!
As long as us elites still board first, if US can make a few more buck from everyone else then good for them.
Zone 1 boarding is before Silvers. If I were a Silver, I'd be smoking mad at yet one more devaluation of my status.
But they are also saying that Dividend Mile Elites will board before the new Preferred Access (being given Zone 1) So I would take it that elites won't have a zone # on their boarding pass and will be called up before those with Zone numbers.
Silvers are now in zone 1.
My Gifted Silver status expired in February, so I guess I missed that memo.
Bought this for today's flight my zone 1 was after everyone preferred (first, status, star status, etc) and before general boarding. I no longer have status or credit card but I really wanted security line access as this is quite a hassle in PHL even at 6am this morning!
Great example of a way to make a profit without alienating elites. Something those folks over at UA haven't really gotten a grasp of currently
I can confirm the order called, since 1) I am Silver, and 2) I just flew this past weekend. What they did was actually call people needing help first, then active military personnel, then all Elites (including Silver), THEN called Zone 1 tickets, then Zone 1 and so forth.
Also just another nice Shout out to US Airways...I got bumped to First Class, yay!
