Lol.. This is going to be a short thread :p

7 rentals this year, always booked a full size, 2 rentals have been Camrys "upgrade" to green collection :rolleyes, 4 Grand Marquis (I'm Presidents Circle) and yesterday, a Malibu.

    So 0 upgrades.

I have argued myself in to a DTS twice, Seattle and MiamI.

Yesterday, I got a Prius instead of the Malibu.

MIA seems to be pretty clueless on the concept of courtesy upgrades; we had the same experience a few weeks ago.

I'll make sure to straighten them out when I head down there for the MIA DO.

I had a few rentals with Hertz last year... got a brand new Prius at LAX which was awesome, did a ton of mileage and only paid a few bux at the pump. got a brand new Aveo at Colorado Springs... and an older Yaris in Montreal. I had the worst experiences at LAS though... cars were very old and made funny noises when driving. I voluntarily downgraded myself a few times because they had "upgraded" me to hatchbacks which I didn't want because I wanted to leave stuff in the car and didn't want to attract unwanted attention.

You do that; it's something they need to get right. The good news is they handled the Platinum return perfectly.

Assigned a corolla in EWR today -- had to ask for a upgrade as a 5 star... It seems to me more and more you have to ask to get a upgrade. Got a new 2011 Malibu, not a bad car....

Toyota Prius (I know many would not consider this an upgrade, and I certainly didn't after driving it, but they do)

Got an Infinity sedan -- (not really my cup of tea) prefer Mercedes (what I have at home), and there is like no trunk space. But it was decent

The Yaris is an upgrade? I scored one someplace recently (SNA?) and I wasn't sure I could fit my rollaboard in the thing it's so compact.

This was surprisingly nice. Drove well, had nice bells and whistles, and was very roomy.

It was a welcome upgrade as I ended up sitting for 2 hours in it on the way to the hotel in downtown DC, but I was hoping that sooner or later they could add some BMWs to the fleet as that is what I drive at home.

How did you like the Altima Hybrid? When I rented one in SFO, it wasn't the greatest as it shuddered when the gas engine took over from the electric motor.

Mine did the same didn't brother me much as I was driving Interstate most of the time. I will seriously consider renting one next time I am in LA you just can beat the gas milage.

Good point, as the last time I was in LA, I had a Jeep Wrangler (the 4 door variety). Let's just say that while the car itself was cheap--the overall experience was expensive.

I've driven both the Camry and the Altima Hybrid. I would take a Camry hybrid anyday (loved this car, literally was considering buying one as my personal car except that the trunk is just too small) but I wouldn't drive the Altima again if I had the choice. The accelerator is sticky and, as you stated, the transistion between gas and electric is shuddery and difficult to anticipate.

When I was in DC last time, I had a Camry hybrid and as you stated, it was a dream to operate.

Hopefully, I can get another upgrade on Wednesday when I return to DC
