Porn in Bathroom TV

I was staying at Le Meridien Barcelona recently and was really pleased to see the renovated rooms, however, I was shocked when I turned on the bathroom TV and rather hardcore porn was playing. It was neat to see the TV inside th mirror, but I was rather stunned to see hardcore porn just coming on as the default channel (I assume that it was on from the previous guest).

 

Are you sure you didnt choose it as your Platinum amenity?

No - I was not charged for it. I really do like the hotel and was rather impressed with the renovated room. It's a really nice property that is very convenient, but I have to admit that I was a bit taken back when I turned on the television.

 

Maybe a soft style movie with acting?

What time of day did this happen? There is some pretty aggressive broadcast television in France, Germany and Spain once you get into the night time hours....compared to the US/Canada/Australia.

I suspect the TV was just on a particular channel...you turned it on in the evening...and got what was being broadcast at the time.

Cultural differences.

 

I agree. Europeans are more open to sex movies on TV and not timid or insulted. Usually on later at night instead of the talk shows!

 

No, this was about 2pm in the afternoon. Not sure how PG these forums are, so let's just say that there was actual penetration and multiple people in the scene. I am pretty open about these things, but I have to admit that I was appalled that this was actually fairly hardcore porn. I am certain even in very liberal places, this wouldn't pass muster for broadcast television. It really isn't a big deal, but I can imagine a family staying there and this really just isn't something that should be freely available.

 

SO turn off the monitor and don't be so alarmed.

I think the OP has a reasonable concern. I have nothing against porn being available upon request, but I don't think it should be the default channel or otherwise easily accessible to children. And I don't think the hotel would intentionally make it available as described (last I checked, those movies cost $$$).

How inappropriate and uncouth. Any hotel chain worth its salt would ask you the TYPE of pornography you prefer instead of just assuming everyone likes the same thing and piping it into your TV. How 2*.

 

It wasn't that big of a deal and I had forgotten to mention it to the front desk. After discovering this, I ended up quickly switching to another channel. Similar to HaveMileswithTravel, I am totally fine with it being available upon request...it really did just startle me to see this when I turned on the TV out of the novelty of a TV in the bathroom mirror.

I started the thread to see if other folks had similar experiences...like I said, I was just a bit startled, not a big deal.

 

That's the other thing - I am a gay man, so it really was not even my kind of porn. Shouldn't that be in my profile?

 

Its apparent you want to argue or be an instigator in this thread. SPG already came on here and acknowledged it wasn't appropriate and the majority agree. Props to SPG for popping on here and being proactive.

 

Pro active to solve a " non problem " = WELL DONE!

 

You see, startled, which means it wasn't a " real problem " like being over charged at check-out!

 

Would we need a thread to comment on the quality of the porn? Akin to the breakfast threads? Would SPG set a minimum standard aka continental breakfast style? What about Albert above who has a different interest in what type of porn is available? Would SPG offer a preview so one could chose between points, breakfast and porn or as mentioned have that choice in one's profile? The possibilities are endless where we can take this thread

This is actually a pretty serious issue for the hotel. One doesn't have to have any personal objection to pornography to know that no hotel wants to greet its guests in this way.

 

Not to mention guests with little ones!
