[Poll] Star Mega DO III Dates discussion

Folks,

In an attempt to get much lower business class fares to and from Europe and also availability of aircraft, we are looking to do the Mega DO in September.

Please voice your opinion asap!

 

If early November, I would suggest Nov 2-5th, the same amount of time till Thanksgiving as the last two SMD's.

I do hope shifting the dates to September won't put the organizers into too much of a timecrunch though...

 

9/7-9/10 - I might be able to attend
9/14-9/17 - No soup for me!
Early November - I can probably attend

 

Voted, but the results are not looking good (for me)...

9/7-9/10 - If Europe part is 9/5-9/7, I'll have to drop my res for Cow-Do VII, but I'm willing to do that.
9/14-9/17 - No dice. ACL Festival in Austin is 9/16-9/18
Early November - Best date for me. No conflicts.

 

Either September period would be good for me. If we did 9/14-9/17, that might be nice to have 2 short weeks in a row (for those who get Labor Day off of work as a holiday).

 

any of them are ok with me, just PLEASE not the last 2 weeks of october.....not that I could stop a moving freight train called star-mega-do....

 

9/7-9/10 - I might be able to attend but my SVO timeshare use week is 9/3-10 & it's for my family

Uh, hello? Early November?

Look, the Yankees may not have a great pitching staff this year, but we plan EVERY year around the World Series. So, first week of November is blocked for me.

 

We'll win in 4 games though, so should be ok.

 

Sure hope you're a Yankees fan.

If you can guarantee 4 games, then I'm perfectly fine with the November dates.

 

What other kind of fan is there??? we're riding fatolo colon all the way!

 

I'm also pretty flexible and just hope the dates get fixed sooner rather than later.

 

Either in September works well, maybe slight preference for 14-17 Sept. Early November is out due to work conference.
The last 2 years have been too close to the busy end of the year events, and it's been a blurr from late October through to after New Year, so even if I could make all 3 dates, my preference would still be September.

And, cheaper European fares will be great for me to get there (& a lot of Europeans to get to / from SMD3). My itinerary is already shaping up to look like a good Aussie version of the long weekend getaway! SYD-LAX - SFO - SEA - SFO - ? - ? - ? - JFK - MUC - ORD - Embraer - Sao Paolo - GRU - DEN - DFW- ORD-SEA-SFO-LAX-SYD.

 

If all things are equal (or really close) in terms of pricing, then September 7-10 would be great because (at least in the U.S.) the Labor Day holiday on Monday, 05 September means a better chance to be able to participate in the optional FRA/MUC part of the Do.

 

Put my preferences in.

Either 3 are OK, but Sept 14-17 I'd be missing out on a school reunion. Hence my choices.

 

Has there been any talk of an itinerary yet?

Just to weigh-in, I would prefer Sept over Nov.
While either week in Sept works for me, I have a slight preference for the 1st week (7-10), as it's an easier week being the first week of school (for my son) and no real 'work' is being done yet! Also, work tends to ramp up for a lot of us after that.

However, Nov. will definitely be warmer/sunnier in GRU!

 

I actually recall waking up entirely too early in FRA at SMD1, flipping on the TV to ESPN and watching the end of the 2009 World Series before heading downstairs to the lobby and then eventually onto the charter flight.

At least I'm pretty sure that is in the blur of my brain from that week.

 

Does anyone understand why the percentages in the poll above add up to >> 100?

Because you can select all three.
Percentages don't make real sense in this case, but the graph makes it clear which one is in the lead or not.

 

I voted for either September date - hope to make it regardless of which date is finally selected!
