I know I'm not the only Hyatt member who prefers the Quince & Bergamot scents to the White Ginger regularly found at domestic US Hyatt properties.

Based on information from a Hyatt employee, it appears that Hyatt is considering a change to the White Ginger scent. I don't know if they're considering changes to all amenities, or just the White Ginger scent.

Take a moment to vote on your preference for in-room amenities. If you think the White Ginger should be replaced with something else (choice #1), include your choice as a reply to this thread.

I'm probably the odd one out actually liking the White Ginger smells (but then as someone who is used to the Holiday Inn smells at the moment, the white ginger is a bit of an upgrade).

I will grant you that I've seen nothing but white ginger since I've stayed at Hyatt's, so a change would be as good as a rest...

And something else to smell of too ;)

I don't think you are or else Hyatt would have eliminated White Ginger a long time ago.

to add: "but I like it too" (which I do) wait, that is a tagline from an ad from aways back

I'm going to have to confess that I also like the White Ginger. However if they were going to switch wish they would do it to the eucalypt range.

So I'm starting the secret white ginger fan club then? ;)

Admittedly a change would be nice... after 3 years a change would be nice. But as I haven't been exposed to any other Hyatt smells yet, I can't really suggest what with.

Of course, if Hyatt Head Office wish to send me samples ;)

Ok - this is bizarre - I posted a reply earlier but it disappeared. Anyways, I find white ginger vile. Portico itself doesn't bother me with either the Quince & Bergamot (often found now in upper level rooms / suites in many properties) or the Lavendar Citrus (as of a few years ago this was the summer scent while white ginger was the winter one before it became white ginger year round) or Eucalyptus (found at many Hyatt resorts). So, if Hyatt has to stay with Portico, there are much better alternatives.

Vile is a good descriptor. I bring my own and put the white ginger in the hall way.

The SPA line was pretty decent. I had it in a regular Hyatt, so it can't be all that fancy.

I opened a White Ginger soap on my first Hyatt stay, and found it so offensive I put it in the car to take to my Mom -- then the next morning found I couldn't stand to be in the car with it, so I put it in the trunk. And that's why I always have a scrappy bit of soap with me now when I travel -- just in case it's White Ginger or nothing. Sometimes, I'm afraid I'll forget my soap scrap and have to skip the shower rather than use White Ginger.

The white ginger products really don't bother me at all, although I'd prefer the eucalyptus products over white ginger.

Seriously? I just finished a seven-night-seven-stay HP run and could have brought down the cost by eBaying the stuff I left behind? ;)

As for the poll... wish there was a "don't care" option.

Ok, now I've seen it all. So people really take this stuff and resell on Ebay? Shoot, we have bought home unopened soaps and half used lotions but only for personal use. We also manage to walk past housekeeping trolleys that are unmanned in the hallways and don't feel the urge to empty the contents into my handbag. I've made the rule that unless I am going to use it, I won't even bring home the bottles I have opened as I got tired of bringing the stuff from the room and cluttering up the bathroom cabinet.

Seriously, first I can't believe that someone would have the nerve to resell the stuff on Ebay. Secondly, I can't believe that anyone would want to pay $18.50 for something that surely would not retail for anywhere near that amount.

I hate the Portico/White Ginger stuff - "Rancid Ginger" is a better descriptor of the cow-manure-like stench that results from using those products.

I did like the CO Bigelow products at the Andaz, maybe Hyatt could do a corporate deal with them similar to what W did with Bliss.

I take it that you never shower when staying at Hyatt hotels? :D

oh, the Coconut Mango products at the Hyatt Regency Waikiki are pretty decent, IMO

I agree. That stuff stinks! If I know I'll be at a Hyatt, I make sure I bring my own toiletries bc the White Ginger is nauseating.

I figured maybe it was a generational thing. I mean, have you ever smelled Tabu perfume? She used to wear that.

I'm now convinced that the CoCo Mango "scent" that is at the HR Waikiki is from Portico based upon the shape of the containers, soap wrappers, and the bumpy "massage" tub soap. I'm not suggesting that this be the "global" scent since its probably a bit too tropical but it does show that Portico does make scents that are much better than the White Ginger.

All strong scents make my nose run. White ginger is one of the worst culprits. I wish all hotels had some decent scentless toiletries.

I'm about to do a 4 night Hyatt stay and because I can't stand the White Ginger stuff I'm actually bringing my W Bliss leftovers.
