I'm not sure if how much this helps, but I am booking within the next couple of days, and had planned on taking advantage of the double dip PointsHound does, but wondered if I would be able to use the Level 2 as opposed to my current lowly Level 1 status...
I was just going to post a new thread about PointsHound, but I'll add it hear. I like nice tidy threads. Im researching all the benefits of Premium membership. In this forum and FT, I notice a lot of complaints about this service. I knew nothing about it until 3/4 months ago. However, it seems as though there are a lot of complaints about customer service and the processing of points. What are people's experience with this service When you book, does the rate come across as an eligible rate to earn points and elite status? That is unclear to me.
Yes, they are legible stays to earn points if you choose the double dip option. Also, I emailed customer service and received a reply that I was bumped to level 2!
i got bumped to level 2 too ! but probably wanna compare the double dip rates on Pointshound vs Hyatt's website as well
Only if you book a "Double Up" rate specifically flagged as eligible for such. Otherwise it is treated as an OTA booking.
Are these "double up" rates identical to rates found on the SPG/Starwood website? Sorry to ask so many questions, but I'm trying to better understand the service and the FAQ didn't make me feel comfortable. thanks!!
a $135 room at the Westin in Seattle will earn you 300 miles plus Starpoints...I don't know how that matches up.
IME yes, but I haven't checked every rate in every system and I don't plan to. They're easy enough to check for your date/city. Not all hotels have the Double Up rates. In fact, most don't. But where they do exist they've been comparable to published direct rates IME.
I think this bumps you up one level as opposed to bumping you to level 2.. I was already a level 2 from a Virgin America promotion back in May, now I am level 3!
