My wife and father in law won a free 5 day stay at a Marival in Puerto Vallarta. They won it at our local travel agents, it was not crazy time share thing. They have to go before the end of the year, and given the constraints of my wife's schedule, she can only go on the following dates:

    Leave Return
    12/9 12/15
    12/10 12/16
    12/11 12/17

I have quite a few FF miles

    AA 173K
    BA 200K
    VA 130K
    Delta 22K
    Alask 25K
    USAIR 105K

    AMEX 150K
    UR 40K

I am frantically looking for First Class tickets, or Economy Premium. But I would really not like to spend 120K of my American Miles.

If anyone can help, I would really really appreciate it.

    Any ideas?

Post the departure point. The destination is known as Puerto Vallarta.

Looks like Kansas from his profile, which would be all kinds of bad.

Seriously though, probably not... but there are so many other places that would make it easier :)

    A quick look; I'd do

    MCI - DFW - PVR via Avios in Y ; (4500 + 7500) * 2 per person = Total 48000 avios

    in F you're looking at 13500 + 22500 = 144k;

Well I don't know if anybody flies direct, so you're probably looking at MCI-PHX-PVR, but United flies nothing but ERJs on that route so flying F might be a waste of miles -- when there are so much better experiences in F than an ERJ-145. :)

AA flies MD-80s via DFW, and even though US flies A319s/320s via PHX, you're not really looking at any sort of nice hard product that would be worth an F redemption.

My advice (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) is use the miles for something else. :)

Can't believe I forgot departure, yes it is MCI.

I think I will do the suggestion from edekba and look at using Avios.

Do you have to price them out leg by leg? If I remember correctly it showed no availability when I tried MCI- PVR - and it wasn't trying direct, it just said no flights available.

I think you do? Avios is priced out segment by segment; I didnt look @ the dates for you so I don't know if they're space

Check availability at aa.com for AA flights, then phone BA to book using Avios, mentioning that U tried to book online but couldn't, so they will not charge their phone booking fee.
Also, AA calls its front cabin "Business" on USA--Mexico, so only 15K per person per direction DFW--PVR. I've heard some BA employees can get domestic US so-called F to price in Avios as Biz! Booking Biz on the intl. flights will also get a Biz baggage allowance!

Also remember that US miles can get award flights on UA, while UR can go to UA and Amex to AC Aeroplan, which can be used on US or UA!

My first thought was using Alaska Airlines to get to PV. But you would probably have to use AA miles to book. But MCI-SEA-PVR could be a possibility. As to how many award miles. I will leave that up to more experienced award folks.

This is how I am going to proceed. You due have to price out flights segment by segment on BA - what a pain. But this will work the best.

    Thanks.

Yeah BA can't do mixed class bookings online so as others said, they shouldn't charge you a fee for calling to book. Just have the info from AA ready to give them when you call--e.g. flight numbers, departure dates/times, etc.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I did find mixed cabin class and have marked it. Will call BA as soon as the reservations in Mexico are confirmed.

I really really appreciate all the help that I have received here!
