Planes Come Within 500 Feet at Newark

    "We're sorry, link doesn't work in your area" was the response I got, so I'll search for the story on another site.

    Have they closed the other main runway for maintenance yet and is that the reason this may have happened, or hasn't the work started so far?

    Thanks Greg, your link worked. Looks like the B737 was on approach to Ry. 29 which is the shorter runway, as the Express jet was taking off from Ry. 4-22, so possibly the other main runway was out of commission, but I thought the maintenance work wasn't to start until after May 1.

    In all my years flying, I've never been to EWR, so I know nothing about the layout of the runways.

    Two main parallel runways at EWR 4-22's , and a shorter runway, 11-29. From your video it appears the B737 was on final approach to Rwy. 29 which is at the end of the 22's (you can see the number 29 in the video), and the Exec jet was just lifting off 4-22. Glad it turned out well, although I guess someone will be answering some questions as to why the near miss happened.

    Edited my previous post, as the Express jet was off of 4-22.
