"The bathroom just exploded, I'm not even exaggerating."

    Yeah. Right.

Even if the bathroom did purportedly explode, if the lavs were properly serviced at LAX there shouldn't be any waste in the tank to leak! Since "blue water" toilets are largely a thing of the past (and I am assuming this was a 777 with vacuum lavs) even if the toilets weren't drained somehow (hard to believe the crew wouldn't notice the displays indicating a full tank), any human waste on board should have been whisked away to the tank near the tail. Of course they all agreed about the smell - so where that was coming from is a mild mystery I suppose.

But... who are we to argue with the expert quoted above?

It's a coverup. It wasn't "toilet waste making its way down the aisles". It was alien green slime that escaped from Roswell, NM. It body snatched all the pax and they're now spreading Ebola around the nation. Tune into Fox News for the true story.

Pipes break, seals fail. These things happen. One was Boeing, one was Airbus. Ideally you'll get a slow drip before you get a flood and someone will notice and the problem can be solved, but that's not always the case.
