Yeah...very spooky, particularly as I was about to book flights on them in the coming couple of weeks. :(

That is spooky. When I read it I was wondering about all the mistake fares. Reminder that there is an inherent, albeit small, risk with all of these things.

Which airlines were you booking with. There is a huge difference (price, ethics, safety!) between the government owned airlines and the private sector airlines. Be careful. very very very very careful.

Good reminder. I imagine this should be spooky to quite a few readers on here who have recent or future trips to the area.

I'm booked on Air Mandalay right now. Still have to pay and pick up my tickets when I get to Yangon in a few days.

Air Mandalay is a good choice. Try and stay away from Myanma Airways and Myanmar Airways International - Both are owned by the government and Myanma is known for their poor safety record.

Are you doing the Yangoon -> Bagan flight?

Good option. I took the bus from Mandalay which took about 10 hours and the bus from Bagan to Kalaw (for the trek to Inle) and that took about 11 hours.
