Pittsburgh International Airport has reopened 10 gates at the end of Concourse A by removing a wall.

The additional gates will enhance operational efficiency, according to the Allegheny County Airport Authority.
The wall was put up in 2008 in order to save money on maintenance after US Airways eliminated hub operations at PIT. It was taken down on August 22, 2013.

Changes that prompted this move include a request from Southwest Airlines to park aircraft overnight at some of those gates and United Airlines’ move to Concourse A, even gate numbers A2 through A12.
