Ben at One Mile at a Time has posted some photos from a reader of AA's new A319. Despite the lack of F seating I think it looks pretty good, and IFE looks especially nice.

The leather(ette) is pretty nice, but only 4 J seats? :(

Looks nice.. small J cabin is a shame.. The J seats look narrow, but that might just be because they are thin.

My initial response when i read his page was I'd almost rather have MRC or what ever they're calling it these days for two reasons. I have bulkhead seats in J. The walls almost always have no room at the floor in the first row and the recline seems limited in the 2nd row.

I am one who although fully understanding the economics of fuel on the MD80s will miss them greatly. The 2x3 is so nice for us in Y and so quiet in J.

Wow. The IFE looks pretty awesome. I usually rely on my own, but given a screen that big, if the resolution and selection are good...

Avianca/Taca is the only airline I have flown that has more than 8 J seats on the A319. Although it does make economic sense, it also makes UGs challenging a lot of times on long domestic routes. I'm speaking strictly from my experience on UA. Depending on schedule, it may be worthwhile for EXPs to use an instrument to get the bump to the front of the bus.

Looks like AA's method of getting elites to pay for F a lot more often in the future if this is the trend...no more upgrade roulette.

Why does this plane remind me of the old Fokker 100s that I was loathe to fly?

Interesting that they are using this bird on the non-stop DFW to Bogota starting November 21st. I would have thought that route could support a bigger plane.

US has 12 F seats on their A319's, though no MCE seating.

DL has 12F on their A319s, although you would be forgiven if you thought they were coach seats based on seat pitch and their design (with coach like tray tables.) For the record, DL's A319/A320 slimline seats, despite coach like looks, are pretty comfy (especially in bulkhead.)

As someone who actually likes the current-gen 737/refurb-757 F seats, I'm glad to see they are basically unchanged (except for the leather and PTV) on the A319. Leather is nifty for short flights, but can be a drag on longer segments as it doesn't breath like cloth. Never the less, looking forward to flying the A319 on AA!

Any idea when/where the inaugural flight on AA's 319 will be? That might make for a fun mini-Do.

This makes NO sense to me...does anybody else see what I see? I'm hoping this is a mistake, but according to the A319 specs at https://www.aa.com/i18n/aboutUs/ourPlanes/airbus319.jsp:

    Airbus A319 Configuration

The Airbus A319 is configured for First Class, Main Cabin Extra, and Main Cabin seating.
    AreaSeatsPitchReclineWidth
    First Class 8 38" 3" 21"
    Main Cabin Extra 18 34" 6" 17.7"
    Main Cabin 102 30" 4" 17.7"

Where have you been? :) The A319 motto is "fewer F seats than a CRJ!"

I think he's referring more to the noted 3" recline in F, vs. 6" in E+.

Exactly. I'm sure it's a screw-up, but if not it's much moré of a change than expected.

While I understand that upgrades and sitting in F are great perks and part of the reason I pick AA, I always find it a bit amusing how terrified some folks seem of actually sitting in coach. ;):D

After years of never sitting in coach on AA, I can imagine the size of my therapy bill if coach starts becoming a regular thing. :p

Seriously, though, it's a big part of the AA value prop for me. I will regularly (though less than I used to) book AA for a connecting flight that I could do direct on UA because I know I won't clear the upgrade on UA and I will on AA. Reducing that value prop makes it a lot tougher for me to be a loyal AA guy out of IAD.
