    That's right, Luxembourg. The photo is taken from the garden leading up to the top of the Pfaffenthal Lift. If you have not ridden that lift, try is next time you're in Luxembourg. If is a very well done piece of public transportation , connecting the lower and upper parts of the city with style and efficiency. The gold dome structure in the photo is at 49.615195N 6.129112E and can be seen on Google Maps.

    @newbluesea, you're up next.

    There is a lift that has always been there, from the place du St.-Esprit down to the Grund. Then there is this new elevator down to the Pfaffenthal. This new one was opened in 2016, so if you haven't been to Luxembourg recently, it's time to go back to ride the new lift! They are also building a tram line to the airport, making it all that much easier to fly in just to go ride that lift.

    You are much closer but not Tacoma.
    The name of our city has a tangential relationship to Greece.:)

    < < < < A moment's distraction. Back at post #19760, we had a photo from my October work in Tchad/Chad. (I was back in November, and, therefore away from the forum for most of the month.) This week's New Yorker has a feature article on the Chadian situation, if anyone is interested. The World's Most Complex Humanitarian Disaster. And now back to our regularly-scheduled program. > >

    Thanks posting this... its unbelievably complex and an example of what happens when the uneducated are forced to deal with dire conditions and how they become pawns of the ruthless
    Is the USA heading that way? perhaps not but we certainly have a alarming subset who believes nothing but what they want.
    Did that pilot guy ( that managed to get $250k in donations for his quest) prove that the earth was flat?:rolleyes::D

    I'm trying to link Archimedes and hygiene in my mind. It's not working. So I probably shouldn't guess Eureka (CA).

    Well you should ..after all as the story goes the Archimedes was in his bath-tub ( that's if the ancient Greeks actually had bath-tubs:D ) when he stumbled on the theory of displacement and shouted out " Eureka"... I found it.
    The photo is of the "The Fisherman" monument on the Woodley Island Marina across from downtown Eureka, CA.

    You're next

    Thanks for both the nice photo and the reminder of this wonderful story. I hadn't drawn the link (though I know the story); it was a great beyond-geographic clue.

    What city has this nice harbor?

    Try to resist whatever metadata I couldn't remove. The city is easy enough.

    Not Macau. And those passenger ferries are strictly domestic. (There is, of course, international shipping.)
