Thanks! I'm headed to Pensacola in a few weeks. Was going to squeeze in a couple of Hilton stays to keep Gold status - even better to get gift cards back!

Be sure to register on the website and print out the confirmation page. (See the link in the first post.)

"Registration does not guarantee card availability."

Thanks - I caught that in the T&C as well. But I'd be staying there anyway so there's no downside to registering!

And the hotel rates already reflect the risk of an unlikely surprise attack by mother nature. This is an added incentive to take on that minor risk.

Yes, unlikely. I'd bet money on it being hurricane-free this week. Hurricanes don't typically sneak up on people.

    Statistics for Pensacola:
    http://www.hurricanecity.com/city/pensacola.htm

How often this area gets affected?
brushed or hit every 2.24 years

I'm okay with visiting Pcola on short notice during the height of hurracun season, were I to live close by.

For folks not so close, and have to make plans in the future during this time of potential turmoil, it's a real crapshoot.

One can wish upon a star, though. Lady Luck may prevail.

The same can be said of any location throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, and the southeast US. The level of risk is usually overblown. The last trip that I took that was affected by a hurricane was in 2006 when we planned to fly to Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula in late September.

If you happened to be going before August 31, you could combine this with the IHG $75 in vacation pay. There are several Holiday Inns that seem to be around $100 - $115 per night.

Just picked up my $100 gift card yesterday - just brought in the hotel receipt and my promotion registration form. They xeroxed my drivers license and had me sign a few things. Well worth a 10 minute detour to the visitor's center! Thanks, SC Flier, for posting this!
