Go ahead and juice up. ;)

Mainline only right now and if you're outside of US airspace then the rules from the local authorities apply.

I mentioned this elsewhere, but my flight from CDG to MSP yesterday yielded a favorable announcement from the flight crew that PED's could continue to be used during landing, however laptops were to be shutdown and safely stowed. I thought laptops were included in the change.

Laptops have to be stored for takeoff and landing because of their size and weight. In an emergency, a flying laptop could be a deadly projectile, and they're large enough that they could easily impede movement in an evacuation.

What's the fee to use the approved PEDs from Feb. 1st onwards? ;)

Satellite wifi fleet-wide with an annual subscription so you never have to be disconnect. Not holding my breath, though I do think it is in the near future.

Gonna be a lot of sunrises and sunsets before there's fleet-wide wifi.

Nice to keep my iPhone music on from sitting down to standing up at the end of my delayed EWR-BOS flight today...

Nice change all around. Guess I'll start packing my old school kindle on work trips (I'm not going to haul a tablet and a laptop around) so I can read during taxi.

Nice to see all of the airlines adopting too. I had my doubts and suspicions that the unions would try to block due to some of the things I've seen publicly stated by pilots...but I guess once the FAA ruled, they decided it was a losing bet.

Guess the message didn't get out to my PS crew yesterday since they insisted everything gets turned off as usual.

I'd be utterly shocked if this same situation isn't reported repeatedly on UA over the next few weeks.

And the other airlines, too. I doubt that UA will be alone in having FAs who don't pay attention to the new rules.

Some, yes. But, the percentage of persnickety FAs on my UA flights is significantly higher than my AA flights and I'm not the only one. I'm finally starting to understand what some folks describe as thus outsize number of IAD- based UA flight attendants that appear to really dislike their jobs.

I suspect that most of us thought of nothing else from reading your post.

This is really great news! I no longer have to be sneaky to listen to my Nano from the hello to the goodbye. :D
