    Not new news to me. People have been doing this for years at hotels & restaurants, why not the airlines.

    The situation described in the article is not quite the same as what we see at hotels and restaurants. I believe the article uses the term "bribe" incorrectly. To me a bribe would be a payment to an agent of a service provider for some preferential treatment, disloyalty to their employer, etc. In the present situation we clearly have a black market in travel amenities, i.e. off the books transactions between passengers w/o airline participation. It should be a wake up call to some that the legit market is severely distorted -- the supply of needed services is insufficient to meet consumer demand and/or healthy competition between service providers is being stifled.

    I agree, this does not constitute bribing an airline employee. He just offered a lousy $100 to another pax to move.

    For him to think that someone in First would move for a $100, is naive.
