This may be a silly question...but I am flying DCA-PHL-LAX on Sunday, and I currently have just under a three hour layover. My parents live in the Philadelphia area, so I'm thinking it would be nice to have lunch with them during my layover...but ideally, I'd like to have a little more time than I do. So my question is: will the agents at DCA be able/willing to confirm me on an earlier flight from DCA-PHL, but keep my PHL-LAX flight at the same time? I ask this because first, when you check in at the airport and it offers you an earlier itinerary, I've always seen that it's both segments that are moved up, and second, I know there are rules on the maximum time you can have as a connection when you initially book a ticket, so I didn't know if that would still apply here. Thanks for the advice!
