Having a conference at Huntington Beach, California this October and will likely be staying 5 nights.
Properties looked at is the Hyatt Regency Huntington Beach Resort and Spa (official Hotel) and the The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton property.

One thing that is having me cracking my head is how to avoid the parking fees. I would like to get a rental to move around but being a conference, the car is going to be lightly used yet cost me an arm and leg for the day and night parkings.

Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated.

The last time I was there, I found it difficult to park on those small side streets. Lots of cars, not so many spots to park. I remember doing a lot of beach parking. (This was 3 years ago, so I don't know if that helps)

We were just at the Hyatt a few weeks ago and had no trouble parking on Beach Blvd before the meters start (before turning right to the Hyatt.) About 1/3 mile, easy, level walk to the Hyatt. Don't think there are any time limits, but you could always move the car around daily.
