    Good Day:

Park Hyatt Vendome in Paris was awarded the top 5 Star classification or Palace by the French Government.

It is one of only 8 hotels to receive this classification in France.

A fantastic day for the wonderful Park Hyatt Vendome Paris!:)

The question remains, where is the Four Seasons George V? ;)

Yes very strange. A nice "win" for the Park Hyatt- which is an excellent hotel- however a far second from the Four Seasons (also in cost).

Maybe people have moved on from the style of this hotel, taste changes fast and I have also read earlier that the Four Seasons George V plans a renovation of all the rooms // suites. Some people found the rooms // suites are a bit dated around the edges.

In Paris the competition hots up! Shangri-La is open, MO is coming soon and the Peninsula should open up in 2012!

    Exam sounds like school!;)

Interesting article on FS Paris here:

    http://www.cpp-luxury.com/en/four-seasons-george-v-in-paris-unveils-major-renovation-plans_1238.html

I don't know about the rooms/suites seeming dated- also already a few frequent guests have stated they like the previous design better than the rennovated suites (which seem a bit to "Russian" for some tastes).

Shangri-La looks interesting- I have not stayed here yet- but really to top the Four Seasons is very tough. The Hyatt actually looks quite dated inside- this was the very first "Ed Tuttle" design hotel- and while it was very new and innovative at the time- now it comes across as needing a refresh and quite dated. The Bristol, by the way, is quite ugly after the rennovations- really a shame. I know the fashion week people all love the P.A.- however I am not sure if that is for tradition or convenience more than anything else.

Interesting that Grand Hotel du Cap made the list but Hotel du Cap--Eden Roc in Cap d'Antibes did not.

Also the Crillon has clearly fallen; this makes it undeniably official.

I had a hard time getting a reservation for afternoon tea and the pool attendant was not fast enough in handing me a bottle of Evian while my lazy a*s floated around. Maybe the examiner found out. ;)

I am quite surprised the Ritz did not make the list of 5 star Paris hotels.

Have you stayed at the Ritz? Apart from the top suites, the hotel really needs a serious rennovation.

Yes, but I stayed there last in 1995.
