Park Hyatt Sydney to reopen late this year MORE FROM THE SOURCE: http://www.businesstraveller.com/news/park-hyatt-sydney-to-reopen-late-this-year
Sounds great. Can any Diamond members refresh my recollection of how easy it is to use suite upgrades and how Diamonds generally are treated at this hotel?
Mrs Seaflyguy and I spent a quite enjoyable week-plus at the property last year. We weren't upgraded to a straight-on Opera House view room because of the length of our stay, but we did have a very pleasant view of the Quay from our room. The best benefit of Diamond status there is breakfast -- their restaurant prices are dear to say the least, and so we would have only had breakfast there once without the benefit, but instead we were able to start each day by sitting next to the windows with the Opera House off to our side enjoying their delightful cuisine. As for treatment otherwise, service is at a very high level there but I don't think it has much (if anything) to do with Diamond status. They're great at the little things. Within a day or two, various employees would greet us by name. When we'd return from one of our morning runs around the Quay, the bellmen would hand us towels and water as we approached the door. When I hurt my back, the butler service -- setting up a hot water bottle for me and ensuring I was comfortable -- was impeccable.
Thanks seaflyguy! How large are their rooms? Some Park Hyatt's are pretty small. Doe anyone know if they honor the guaranteed suite rooms offered by the Chase Hyatt card?
I've stayed at this property in both ordinary rooms and suites. Both were spacious. I forgot about the small pool above the main lobby. This hotel is not convenient to many things in Sydney, but is a place everyone should stay once (if you have the dough or points) if possible...there's no better view of Sydney.
The hotel used to, and I suspect will again, have a hotel car which the use to run people up the hill to the CBD.
*Not* convenient!? As a Sydneysider, I consider this hotel in absolute prime central iconic real estate. Walk to ferry or train, bus at the door: and the Harbour out your balcony.
