Park Hyatt Sydney soon to unveil renovation results:)

The Park Hyatt Sydney will soon emerge from a top-to-bottom renovation that resulted in its shutting down for a good portion of the year.

The refreshed product now features a fourth level to the building with three rooftop suites, offering 360-degree views of Sydney Harbour.

A new and larger day spa has also been added to the property, while conference facilities have been expanded. Additionally, The Dining Room is now the hotel’s newest al fresco restaurant, with well known Australian chef Andrew McKee at the helm.

Local artists have been commissioned to produce exclusively designed pieces to spruce up the property.
Though the exact reopening date has not been announced, general manager Andrew Mensforth, said: "We continue to target a late 2011 opening."

For more information, visit sydney.park.hyatt.com and for a Business Traveller review of the property before its renovation, click here.

I am really looking forward to the re-opening of this hotel- practically the only real luxury choice in Sydney!

What about The Observatory by Orient-Express?
I'm sure many would that one too classify as luxury!:)

Not if they stayed there. The Observatory wins my award for "most overrated hotel in Australia" although it is competing head to head for this title with the Park Hyatt Melbourne.

Interesting that the Park Hyatt Sydney ticks all the right luxury boxes, while the other luxury properties like the Observatory or the Park Hyatt Melbourne are simply overrated!

What about Wolgan Valley? Any infos?

I have never been to Wolgan Valley unfortunately.

Park Hyatt Sydney is in a class of its own- it really was the flagship of the Parks along with Tokyo so it will be very interesting to see what has changed. I want to go back to Australia soon- especially with the new QR flights that make is super fast and convenient for me from VCE/DOH/SYD!

Observatory is such a downer for the service, as is the Park Hyatt Melbourne. Shame about the Park Hyatt Melbourne as the physical plant is fantastic. I saw a number of guests arguing with the checkout staff so I can't believe it is an isolated incident. I also had the misfortune of staying there when the hotel was completely without water one night (no water at all- not even to flush the toilet).

I've stayed several times at the Observatory and have had generally good experiences, including being offered a regular room to use after an early morning arrival when my upgrade "if available upon arrival" wasn't ready yet (FHR program). This was much better than losing the upgrade or being made to shower and dress in the pool area, without the possibility of a nap. My biggest complaint was overwhelmed breakfast staff on a late weekend morning.

Perhaps I had bad experiences which are random- however there were three of them- nothing a huge deal but enough that I decided the PH which is usually around the same price is a better way to go. I found the Observatory really to be quite arrogant and not very helpful at all. If you have a room facing the street it can be quite noisy also.

Excellent call. PHT or hear are probably the two "best value" possible- although Milano during fashion week or Zurich during a conference would come quite close in terms of cost.

I'm not sure you can - since the property is (was?) excluded from the Diamond Confirmed Suite Upgrade program.

Love the PH SYD; beautiful, low key hotel, stunning location, impeccable service & the restaurant was pretty good too! Don't think I'll be flying down for the reopening but ya never know!

No problem using the Hyatt free nights from Chase here.
They won't honor the terms and conditions of Hyatt's Gold Passport Program for suite upgrades on revenue nor the Chase free Suite promise for Diamonds:rolleyes:
However they will give you a perfectly nice room.
Provided the hotel is actually open and accepting reservations
    Cheers

This hotel usually sells out on paid suites- I have never had a suite upgrade here although all the rooms were very nice and presumably should be nicer after this rennovation.
