    Dear Milepoint Members,

The Hotel De La Paix Siem Reap will be rebranded as the Park Hyatt Siem Reap following a complete renovation. The hotel is expected to open in 2013 and will offer 107 guest rooms and suites, two restaurants, one bar, a bakery, spa, fitness center, and two swimming pools. The hotel is situated nearby the renowned 12th century runis of Angkor and close to more than 1000 temples including Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious monument.

    Happy Travels!

Nice to have this option coming down the line. Now, how about something at LAX?

Since Cambodia is on my list of places to go, I am actually pretty pleased by this. I really still am begging for some European presence though.....Madrid, Rome, Barcelona, Athens, etc etc etc.

Is there any update on the opening for this property? We are closing in on the end of Q1 2013...

When will you begin accepting reservations?

Interesting. This sounds like it'll be the best place to stay in Siem Reap.

Love how Hyatts are pushing the bar with PHs.

Unfortunately I only stay in chain hotels (though Aman is a chain lol) cause of the perks of being elite.

And also the possibility of BRGs =).

But I find PHs need to have something to make up for the lack of the lounge. For example PH Tyo - the Club on the Park spa is actually like a lounge. And theres the 5 - 7 Happy Hour for Diamonds.

Ok who am I kidding I just want the free alcohol!! :):):):):):):):)

The Aman in Siem Reap is all inclusive.

Perks of elite are good although in my experiences booking through a TA with a long standing relationship with particular hotels typically yields far more than an elite card although I suppose YMMV.

Interesting... could you elaborate a bit more about the benefits you've received so far? And what kind of TA is this?

    As an example:
Virtuoso TA have a relationship with most Aman hotels and there are also Virtuoso agents who are FSPP (Four Seasons Preferred Partner). It really depends on the property however I have received some very nice suites (i.e. book Junior Suite and get a 3 category upgrade) + spa benefits (dollar discount or completely complimentary) + free full breakfast including room service etc.

Wow that's very interesting. 3 Category upgrade!
Since I don't have an Amex plat card I don't have access to FHR, but Virtuoso seems like a very good alternative.

    Thanks for sharing!

Certainly not to count on every time however the Virtuoso agent I have used has steered me to some very good properties at which I have since become a regular customer.

Back on subject- it will be nice to have the restaurant reopening soon as it was a highlight in Siem Reap when the hotel was known as the Hotel de la Paix. Any idea if Park Hyatt will also take over the Luang Prabang property of the (former) same name? The Luang Prabang hotel is one of the nicest in all of SE Asia- especially the private pool corner suites which are outstanding.

I know this is getting off topic, but do you feel that if you are the infrequent traveler that you should work with one Virtuoso Agent all the time or on a case by case basis find the agent that maybe does more business or has more experience with a particular property?

Work with the same agent every time. This way the agent gets to know you and you get to know them. No way would I jump around with agents- wasting your time and theirs both.

And if you are a Park Hyatt fan you will definitely be very happy with the PH Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City property which also hosts one of the very top restaurants in Vietnam.
