A year ago we stayed at the Park Hyatt Saigon. It was our first stop on a 2 week trip to Vietnam. Our hotel driver was, fortunately, right there with his little sign welcoming us at the very crazy, confusing, and busy airport. A short trip brought us to this perfect little oasis in the middle of a noisy and seriously congested city. We had used points to upgrade to a beautiful suite. Total perfection with a large pretty livingroom, spacious bedroom and gorgeous well equiped bathroom. The butler was well intentioned but frankly pretty useless. He did manage to bring gorgeous platters of fresh fruit every day. The lobby and public rooms were beautiful with exceptional pieces of interesting (and I think local) art everywhere. The location was ideal for easy and very safe (if you can cross streets without incident!) walking to lots of local sites, shopping and restaurants. The service was generally very good with great assistance from the well staffed conceirge desk.

  2. I was there when they were building it.
Please post some photos of views you like there.

I am sure its not cheap.

Actually, piqaro, I was pleasantly surprised at the price. We paid $190 usd for our suite. I can't remember the details of the points we used to upgrade, but it wasn't much. Granted, your dollars go very far in Vietnam, but we thought the value was outstanding.

Wow- you really had an outstanding deal!

The restaurant Square One in the hotel is one of my favorites in all of Vietnam- it is fantastic.

Never made it to Square One, but I remember that it was very pretty. Our favorite was Quan An Ngon, I think on Pasteur Street. Very cool outdoor setting with incredible food. I think we ate everything on the menu (!) and drank huge amounts of beer. Total bill was $16. I want to go back!!

Quan An Ngon is very fun, and a great relaxing experience.

Square One is a bit different of an experience- however also wonderful- with another zero on the bill.

By the way- the new bar at the Park Hyatt Saigon- 2 Lam Son- has the best cocktails in Vietnam.

That's an excellent deal OP. We stayed there a couple years ago and loved the Suite. You're right about the butler, useless, though we did get him to iron a few pieces of shirts and pants. Can't wait to go back.

Excellent deal for a hotel that can often cost >400 USD a night.

Thank you. It was a quick trip to visit some friends. My first time in VN but it won't be my last. Lots of points left to burn at this property. :)

Does this property have a club lounge? If not, what do they do for Diamonds? Breakfast? Evening cocktails?

Not stayed at the hotel but I am pretty sure (like most, but not all, PHs) there is no club lounge. The GM has previously worked at the PH Tokyo so he knows what service is all about.

I assumed that they wouldn't, but as I've been planning my itinerary I have been looking at "package" itineraries as comparison and I've seen two now that use the PH that refer to "drinks in the Club Lounge" prior to dinner so that had me curious. :)

The hotel does have a very lovely bar- 2 Lam Son- which has a DJ from time to time and I suppose could be referred to as a "club/lounge" vs. the lobby lounge which is far more sedate (and also lovely- however in a classic way). I have stayed at the PH- but not as a Diamond- however I was not aware of any type of club lounge apart from 2 Lam Son. I really like this hotel- stay here regardless of any lounge- I have also stayed a few times at the nearby (2 blocks away) Sheraton which has TWO lounges (one club/one towers)- and I would gladly return to the PH and skip the lounge.

Park Hyatts don't have clubs. I'm staying there as a Diamond in a suite May 28th for 3 nights. Will take pictures and write a review.

We hope to be swinging by Ho Chi Minh in August and have this one marked as the place to stay. Last time I went to HMC I was with a friend and we went down market and stayed at the Indochine for $30 per night. I just about cried when I walked by the Hyatt every day knowing that was where I really belonged.

Made a booking for next week so by the looks will cross paths with Tommy777. Hmm will have to conduct surveillance of the other guests to see if I can work out which one he might be.

Report from the Park Hyatt Saigon.

Had a 3 night stay at the Park Hyatt Saigon from May 28th for 3 nights.

The reservation was made using the two free suite nights earned from signing up for the Hyatt credit card and the last night was a paid night with our corporate rate at 185USD++ for one night, so there were two reservations made.

As Saigon was a new city for us, I contacted the hotel's concierge to book their car service for 65USD one way from the airport to the hotel. I also inquired about getting the same suite for the last night we had booked, they required me to use points or a confirmed suite upgrade to secure the suite. I used 6000 points to get the suite secured for our 3 night stay.

We came from Singapore Saturday morning and as we were in the first row in business class, we were the first people off the plane. Immigration was very smooth and within 5 minutes from getting off the plane, we were outside the terminal and were greeted by a person with a Park Hyatt Saigon sign. The car pulled up instantly, it was a new top of the line Mercedes S550. Evian water, information about the hotel and various magazines were waiting for us in the roomy back seat.
The ride was about 30 minutes. When we pulled up in front of the hotel, the manager and two bell boys were waiting and greeted us. The manager escorted us right to our room. A person was holding the elevator waiting for us and greeted us by name. On our floor, another person was waiting greeting us by name and opening the door to our suite.

Check in was done promptly in our suite and keys were already taken care of. The suite was colonial style and 100% perfect. Three dozen fresh roses and also two other fresh roses bouquets made the suite smell amazing. 6 complimentary bottles of Evian was lined up, a huge fruit basket, 3 things of various snack and a bottle of wine was the welcome gift. The fruit and the snacks (brownies, chips, nuts) was replenished daily with the Evian water.

There was an iPod/iPhone dock that charges connected to the TV so you could play your music.

Bathroom had double sinks, separate shower and tub and separate toilet. The toiletries were of a brand I haven't heard of. Not impressed by the toiletries.

The suite was great and there was absolutely no wear anywhere, it had high quality furniture, linens and a very comfortable bed. Perfect.

Housekeeping did a great job, no complaints.

    --

Breakfast was complimentary for Diamonds. The charge for the full breakfast was 520.000 dong if you aren't a diamond for the full breakfast. It was an amazing breakfast, the best I've seen at any luxury property I've visited the last couple of years. They had fresh, French bread throughout breakfast and a great spread. They had a deli counter and had a guy slice up cheese and meat to order. All cheese and meat was refrigerated for 100% freshness.

You could have the buffet and also order anything off the menu.

    --

Room service took 18 minutes the first time, 21 minutes the second time. Food was fresh and as described. No complaints. Prices are very reasonable, so was the mini bar prices.

    --

Pool was quiet and the service was very attentive. Good menu, great prices. They skimmed the pool throughout the day, they provided seat covers and sun screen lotion.

    --

Spa was inexpensive, but expensive for Vietnam. I paid 1,4 million ++ for a 60 minute Swedish, that's about 67USD ++. My massage was not so good, way too much pressure and the girl kept applying too much pressure even after I told her to lighten up. My better half's massage was one of the best she's ever had, so YMMV.

    --

No internet charges (wireless and wired) or breakfast charges on the bill, the bill was 100% correct. They add 10% service charge across the board.

Conclusion: I would rate this as one of the top 3 hotels I have stayed at the last couple of years. We absolutely loved the place and I would totally recommend it to anyone.
