I'm starting this thread for discussions relating specifically to events and activities in LA, as the Master Thread is getting really heavy and unwieldy. I hope you find this an easy and efficient way to get Q's and A's for our time in LA.

I'll start: do we have Friday night free, as indicated on the schedule? It's the first time my partner will be in the city so I may plan something touristy if we don't have OWMD plans.

Stay flexible, there maybe things we don't know. And if not there will be some mobile partying owing on.

This reminds me of a mantra I've come to follow when travelling in unpredictable situations.

"A Passport and a Credit Card are all you need"

So long as I have both of these things, the party can (and often does, in a big way) go on!

(and I just saw some pics of the room I have on the Saturday evening. Drinks are most definitely at 'my place' in Westwood!).

That's what I figured. This was booked as the OWMD, not a sightseeing trip to Dallas, Seattle and Los Angeles! But at the same time I like to be flexible AND prepared.

I agree! Though I'm hearing that cash is a good thing to have on a MegaDo, so I'm carrying more of that than I usually do. Kind of a weird feeling.

My question in LA is if I will be able to go to my car and drive myself when we arrive at LAX or do the busses pick-up airside.

Also on Saturday, can I drive myself to LAX - I have to go to a family event in the evening (my dad's 70th birthday party).

Anyone know what the plan is for luggage? Leave it at the Hyatt and make your own way back?

Several of us are staying Saturday night at the Hyatt; I’ve already offered to store bags in my suite if anyone wants. While we haven’t sorted it out yet, a few of us have discussed sharing a cab back to the hotel. How those heading back to LAX would get back there is an open question.

Pizzaman has also brought up the possibility of holding onto the bus and being able to store bags there.

Stay loose and be prepared for some answers closer to time.:)

I'm staying on at the Hyatt, too, so I'll asist with luggage storage and will partake of a group ride back if one gets organized. Actually, that'd be two of us.

    It's a tough life ;)

Andaz West Hollywood King Suite if you care to look it up (I just found pictures on Trip Advisor and the Andaz Website for the property; it looks huge and a nice bar area for us to congregate around (and store the Gin bottles!).

Arn't we at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza?
But you're right, the Andaz West Hollywood Suites are nice. Had one for the Launch. Plenty of room.

Just a few posts above. Andaz West Hollywood. Heard good things about it so figured i'd end a hectic week on the road in some comfort (before I go to a small hotel room at the Hilton downtown for a few weeks!).

Is that the Hilton Checkers you’ll be at? Stayed there one night and thought it nice. Good breakfast.:)

That would be it. I've also heard a rumour about Diamonds being eligible for Suite upgrades, or at least, coming soon. Here's hoping it's in the next few days heh. It was either that or The Standard, and that's ok, but their wifi is awful (and the breakfasts aren't free, but they are very good even if the dining room is a tad too yellow!

I was there early last summer. No suite, but was upgraded to a nice room on a high floor, with a view towards the Library, which was a nice way to look.

Did I mention the nice breakfast? :)

I do approve of nice breakfasts! Do they have an exec lounge for me to have evening beverages in? :)

Sadly, no lounge when I was there. I’m sure you of all people can talk the barman to comp you some f*@*in’ quaffs, though, if that’s still the case.

Well, there is another Din Tai Fung that’s a bit of a drive out of LA:

I seriously doubt they’d deliver to the Hyatt Regency from there!:(

And I wouldn’t trust one of us, sent there for pick-up, to arrive back with any left! At least I know I wouldn’t be able to resist picking one off every 1/4 mile or so. :D
