news.com.au: Woman fined $105,000 as ex-lover 'left' car at airport three years

I know that domestic spats can lead people to do mean things, but this is over the top IMHO. $105k in parking fines for a car left for three years seems a bit crazy. I would think (and hope!) security would notice a car that did not move for such a long time.

Anyone also notice that the back right wheel is bent something fierce? So, an undriveable car worth $800 took 3 years to impound, and that's the fault of the registered owner? A single, unemployed registered owner, btw. Chicago government...

There's a missing piece of the puzzle -- how could she not have known the car was missing, particularly if the Ill. DMV matches names/ addresses of vehicle registrations and driver's license addresses etc.... and what about insurance.

Sounds like she's got a counter suit against them.

Slightly related, there was one case at DTW (year ago) where a Chevy Corvair convertible sat in a (off airport, privately owned) lot for over 20 years, every shuttle bus drive that went by it pointed it out to his passengers.

Mildly ridiculous. That being said, it's still a rather inventive way to pursue a lovers quarrel. 2 points for originality!
