A few months back I booked ord > Seoul > hkt for our honeymoon.

Our flight is in June, I generally don't worry about things like seat assignments, but being as its our honeymoon I'd like to make sure we sit together, and preferably in an aisle.

Any experience on how I can make this happen?

As I have learned just recently, Korean Air does not do seat assignments until 30 days out from departure. Once 30 days in, you should be able to call KE tell them you want to select your seats, and they should be able to do that for you over the phone.

You can also use the KE web chat once you get to 30 days if that's more convenient than calling.

FWIW, I found I could select via Expedia's seat selector at the 30 day mark before my trip. It didn't appear to let me choose exit rows which KE will do for you if you are ST+.

Anyway, the expedia selections seemed to stick in my online reservation, but since KE canceled my tickets a week later right before my trip I can't say if they really worked at checkin.

It's always safer to do your seat assignments with the operating carrier and frequently it's no more trouble to do it this way. Remember, you should have the operating carrier's PNR and ticket number with your travel documents in case problems arise.

I was one of the KE ROR mistake fare buyers from last year that got canceled 3 months after purchase.

It is one of my dreams to go to Palau but I will go another time on another airline after that mess. Anyway, they are otherwise a decent airline. Don't want to cloud this thread any more.

I also second web chat being better than phone for KE reps.

I sat on hold for 45 minutes, but Orbitz was able to give me a seat assignment over the phone. They said it may not show up online but that I now have assigned seats. That works i guess. Thanks all for the help
