I am not finding it easy to book a 1 way award on ANA. Did not see a way to eliminate the return portion on the booking or make it a one way. Is there a trick or do they not offer 1 way star alliance awards? Is it not economical to use ANA for 1 way? Want to book Zurich to BKK and am also looking on a seperate record of a one way from Lax to Zur? Is there any mini RTW on ANA like on AC?

You might also want to check whether ANA allows open jaw award tickets and whether these flights could be considered open jaw by ANA. I don't know the order you plan to fly or whether ANA has the rule that some other airlines do saying that the open jaw part must be fewer miles than either direction is. Some airlines allow open jaw at the origin, not just the destination.

You could do it like that...

    ZRH-BKK
    Open Jaw
    LAX-ZRH

What exactly are you trying to do. (there are ways around this)

you cannot book a oneway ticket, but what you can do is...

Book KIX-BKK-KUL or KIX-SIN-KUL or KIX-XXX-KUL or whatever routing you wanna do

On top of that add a ICN-FUK (something short) back to Japan and just throw it away

Thanks -- Thats what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure. I ended up just changing my itinerary and booking a 325,000 Yen ticket of which I will obviously use 30,000 AA miles for instead. I mean, do people really pay 40,000 USD for some of these tickets? That just seems so insane...

325,000 JPY is closer to 4,000 USD, not 40,000... But yes, some people (or rather, some companies) do.

Hypothetically could you book an around the world as two big open jaws? How would ANA calculate total mileage.

For example, let's pretend you live in NYC. Could you do:

EWR - EZE - FRA - BKK // open jaw // YYZ - EWR (ticket one)
BKK - SYD - AKL - LAX - YYZ // open jaw // KUL - BKK (ticket two)

In the instance of ticket one; would the mileage required be only EWR through BKK (including stopovers) + YYZ through EWR (but not including BKK - YYZ?

Also, I noticed ANA only allows 2 European stop-overs on one award ticket. I see that it counts IST as in Europe. Does it count all other Turkish cities as Europe or Asia?

OK - I tested something like this and it worked:
EZE - FRA (stop) - LED (stop) - IST (stop) - BKK - MEL // open jaw // SCL - EZE (105k ANA points I believe in C)

however - when I tried this one - it told me it couldn't price around the world trips on the website. Why is this considered around the world and won't let me book online? That is what the ANA website is saying to me.
HKG - IST (stop) - LED (stop) - FRA (stop) - EZE // open jaw // BKK - HKG
