I should alert all that the T&C's indicate that MR points will not accrue when using the card.

Can these be sold on Cardpool?

    Well, I cannot bind cardpool.

But if so, it would provide a method of getting one's minimum spend up and make a small amount of cash/points in the process.

This is concerning to me. Does this mean the Marriott GC's don't accrue points period or is there something different about these gift cards? My understanding is that the GC's you can purchase directly on Marriott.com do allow you to accrue points. Am I reading this wrong?

IIRC, the T&C's for just about all Marriott GC's do not contain such language. And if I were to purchase one that had such language, but that language was not disclosed prior to purchase, I would not be happy. But I do not find it groovy that there might be inconsistency.

Such terminology has been present for other Gift Cards offers in the past, but the reality is that Marriott never distinguishes your method of payment when awarding points for a stay. You'll earn the standard 10-15 (depending on status level, or none) when you stay, regardless if you pay with any Gift Card, cash, credit card, etc.

For those without a Chase Marriott Visa (earns 5 MRPs/$ spent on Marriott), this offer was decent... 1% CB + 20% discount = 21% off versus 5% CB + 10% AMT promo = 16% discount otherwise. However, if you have a Marriott Visa, then you pass up the 5 MRPs/$ and the deal becomes less appealing, perhaps even unappealing.

They are not GCs but Travel Cards which means that you can only pay for your stay. You do get points AFAIK.

I wouldn't bother with it since you can get 10% bonus for buying one + 4-5% cash back + whatever you get from using your CC.

Correct... I should have said "Travel Card". Travel Cards carry different terms, but in practical application, they work just the same in terms of earning points.

I made no purchases, but is the best practice to prefer "gift cards" over "travel cards"?

The terms for TCs are more strict, but they are treated the same way AFAIK.
