Czech Airlines has apparently decided they do no longer wish to codeshare with Air France on the Paris-Prague route. This means AF and OK will now compete on this route (though fares seem to be aligned) and passengers have to decide if they want an OK or AF ticket. Can someone help me understand how this would make good business sense?

Must be based upon costs for that codeshares v the costs needed for the new codeshares to Ukraine and Russia in that forum post. Everything CSA does is based upon costs.....and face it, the traffic to and from Ukraine and Russia is huge....ever been in T1 during these flights? It's a mad house.......and a lot of these pax pay anything for tickets.

Whole website for flights and selection of classes to AMS is messed up too.

Very quickly they are just becoming a low cost niche carrier.....

I find it hard to believe that OK had to drop the AF codeshares to get the eastern Europe routes off the ground.

I have no idea what the revenue sharing breakdown was for the CDG route. If it was a case of shared costs and revenues and the flights weren't drawing revenue to support the costs then I suppose I can see why a change was needed. If the AF share of revenues was higher than they were contributing into the pool, for example, then killing the arrangement may make sense.

When (if ever) is it time to cash in all the miles to avoid losing them in case of a bankruptcy?

I cannot recall the last time two current SkyTeam airlines eliminated code-sharing on own-hub-to-partner-hub routes once they both started code-sharing on such hub-to-hub flights. It almost begs the question about the future of OK's independence and/or membership in SkyTeam and/or if there was some concern about competition authorities making a move.
