I will be delayed here due to today's thunderstorm. After much research, it appears there is NOTHING to do at this airport. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any MP'ers in concourse C RCC?. I wonder what are people's favorite wish list for airport activities: I vote movie theater....

Walk over to the Hilton? You can use the gym (they sell daypasses) or at least have a little more space to work or relax.

You're right. O'Hare offers no shopping or anything else exciting for anyone except kids: http://chicago.metromix.com/arts-culture/childrens/kids-on-the-fly-ohare/137115/content. First of all, the city of Chicago has the mafia approach to running everything, so it would scare any retailers selling other than food and alcohol.

And there also is no room.

You could come to my office 5 minutes away and do my expense reports for the last 2 months, due tomorrow. That's what's on my agenda today before flying to NYC at 4PM :D ;)

Tommy777 the offer is tempting but then i might miss my 4x delayed flight....Plus, I have decided to walk in circles at the red carpet club and see how many miles I can get in.....I say expense everything-- most people are afraid of confrontation, so with a somewhat plausible defense, I have found that almost all expenses get paid......

I once spent 11 hours wandering O'Hare as I was on standby for every flight after my flight was cancelled. Although I had a confirmed seat on the last flight of the day.

I paid for internet and wandered around finding power outlets, watching movies, and hoping I'd clear a standby list. Never did.

ORD is one airport where a lounge pass is a good idea. Some TV, WiFi and some reading material may help.

There's always the Back Rub Hub in T3 between the G and H/K gates. Never tried it but if you've got free time a massage might not be bad.

You should report back on how good it is, so I can avoid it or consider it in the future. :D

All airports are awful just to hang out at. The stores at ORD however do win the award for being really poor. JFK is even worse however in my experience.

Not all airports are, just most domestic ones. Many places abroad offer interesting shopping and dining/drinking choices.

For an hour or two while waiting for transit- agreed completely. To hang out- not really.
Domestic airports- I assume you are talking about USA- yes very poor airports in general.
Even the "famous greats" airports, however, like SIN/HKG grow old after about 2 hours.

I guess it all depends on your interests.

HKG, LHR, ZRH are like shopping malls. Some people can hang out at a mall all day, and actually like it. For me, it's torture. However, I can see getting myself entertained for a longer than an hour or two at HKG; try doing that at MCI. :)

A thunderstorm at O'Hare? Geesh, what is that? It's either a thunderstorm or a snow storm. lol When stuck at O'Hare, I'm usually in one of the RCC's and chatting with a friend who lives there on the phone. However, I am not there today. But, since UA altered our flight schedules here at GEG, I am not frequenting O'Hare quite as much. I am getting my share of SFO though:p and DEN is also a friend. They even pretty much cut me off from Seattle. Anyhoo, it's worse at 5 in the a.m. I guess I am lucky in that if I have a LONG delay, I can always call someone to come and pick me up for a few hours.

As bad as a delay and stranding can be at ORD, it is not the worst hub to get stranded in. For a domestic hub, that award goes to CLT with almost nothing in the concourses.

I don't know, CLT does have that piano in the big atrium area..and the rocking chairs...and the electric carts (whatever they're called) constantly trying to run you over.

There is a USO at ORD for anyone with a retired (or active) military ID.

I ride the moving walkways in the tunnel for hours staring at the neon lights. :D Or if I'm really bored, keep pressing the button to watch the saran wrap whirl around the toilet seat. ORD has the best bathrooms anywhere.
