Looks like a fun "DO" & one that would I could easily schedule time, before or after, to visit friends in Trondheim! Like that Club Carlson, Radisson Blu, is participating. After their great promotions in 2012, found this hotel chain quite nice, especially in EU.

So if I'm not mistaken the event starts in Oslo, Norway on the 19th and whoever is participating will need to secure their own transportation there and it ends in Copenhagen, Denmark on the 21st and that's where we need to find our way home from, correct?

So costs besides the ticket to the event are lodging at hotels and securing transportation to Oslo and back home from Copenhagen

That is how I understand it. RT flights to OSL and back from CPH are pretty cheap right now <$800 coach from East coast. UA and SAS fly to OSL, but only SAS has direct flights from CPH to USA. I would suspect most would stay over until the 22nd for the return. The SAS flights from/to EWR are likely the most common.

I'm looking for cheap tickets SFO to Oslo & from Copenhagen to Tampa (September FTU); so far, $1002 via Star or adding on TPA-SFO $1415 via AA. Hmmmm, have to get serious about the overall costs for these 2 events as they might eliminate participation in SMD5 &/or OWMD2.

Looks like seats are still available. If you are sitting on the fence about this MegaDo - this one has one of the best schedule/times for any of the MegaDo's for an international trip. Arrive on Thurs am, first event in evening (time to rest), one day charter (like SMD1), and nice evening program. Plus suitable to stay over the next night for a free day in Copenhagen.

SMD1 had a stop in Oslo on the charter flight from FRA to Toulouse, and the 3-4 hours we spend at OSL being entertained by SAS was one of our best MegaDo experiences. .Ths Norweigians are as nice as you can get.

Cost wise - this is one the lowest for an international MegaDo. Charter at $649 compared to SMD4 at $999. Plus if you are in the NorthEast - the <$800 TATL is a pretty good fare.

Wow - This is great news! I'm currently living in Oslo, so should be easy to make this work! Maybe I can even host a meet-up at my place or a local bar on Wednesday night... I'll keep you all posted!

NAmericans will get in early morning and can drop bags at the hotel, hop a train into the city and take a nice walk about Oslo (compact city centre, a couple of museums/galleries) take the train back to the airport and the starting event. Then have a nice afternoon/evening to see some sights in Copenhagen. Weather should be perfect in September and tourists at a minimum. Agree our last visit to OSL was short but intensive, SAS put on a fine show. This will be a smaller group too, so more manageable than the larger multi-day SMDs.

I think I will be able to do it... I will try to make a business trip to CPH (I work for a Danish company), and take it from there. Norwegian air is really good for the short trip (in case you need one). Maybe we can arrange a walk on Nyvhan!

    Hi all,

Looks very interesting. Any updates on the timing around United confirming their participation by providing elite & regular miles posting for the charter? Thx.

Yes, I can use miles but I actually need to fly the INTL miles for 2014 status....plus have some SWU's to burn. Definitely leaning towards this DO as have a slight schedule conflict for SMD5, so this one would be much easier & I've never been to Norway or Copenhagen!:)

If North Americans arrive on the 19th and leave on the 22nd, we have 3 hotel nights. What hotel rates have you negotiated?
