This week, OfficeMax is offering $20 off when you purchase $300 in MasterCard gift cards (in-store only). Savings should be applied automatically at the register. Limit 2 discounts per customer. It is not limited to 2 gift cards, but to two $20 discounts. Best option: buy three $200 MasterCard gift cards for $40 off. Make sure to pay with a card that offers bonus points at office supply stores!

Do AmEx SPG Business cards still offer any extra points in office supply stores?

Went to my Indy OM, with my INK card and bought 3 $200 MC, for $580.00, so I received my 5X good for 2900 miles,

They has several MC ready for purchase, and yes will be back tomorrow, hoping to pick up 18,000 miles on this promo, it is good for a few more days.

OM even has a $20.00 sign on the Card Rack so no problem with the purchase.

    Shouldn't it have been $560? I.e., $20 off for $300 gc * 2?

No 580, you pay 6 for the activation,

Bought 600 got 40 rebate, and paid 6 each for the cards.

Still a good deal with the 5X for the INK Card.

    Deal goes till the 25th.

OM also gives 5 off on the next purchase, if you fill out the survey

Arghghhh... Both OM near me dont have the $200 cards, only $100 which I guess still makes sense just makes it more hassle... I might just go with the $100 cards. Its still free UR points...

Ouch....drove to the nearest OM store, only to find that they had closed the store and left my town. The nearest one is few towns away and I hear that location does not carry too many gift cards. But $200 gift cards even without the rebate are a good deal at Staples as compared to Vanilla reloads.

I was wondering this myself. Staples and/or Office Depot... hit up all three each day and you could really rack up some points!!!

If your Office Max doesn't have any $200 cards out on the shelf ask an employee to check inside the gift card display... I did and I'm glad because there were plenty inside their storage, just none on the racks.

@AlohaMiles was this in Hawaii? I went to the one in Lahaina today and they had a zillion visas but no MCs. The checkout guy said they didn't have mc anymore, just visa. I didn't know to tell him to look inside. Bummer.

Might be worth mentioning here that getting rid of MCs is often harder than VISAs, at least with Bluebird. They generally work fine at the Walmart ATM, assuming you can find one in service, but its tricky getting them redeemed at a cashier. Something about defaulting to credit rather than debit or something. You have to race the cashier to see who does what first. No issue if you're just going to spend them or empty them with AP say.

I have been buying 9 at a time, manager ask me if I was using them as gift cards, told him I was paying painters, and cleaning people. He knows I have rentals.

They seem to have $200.00 in stock, no problems so far.

The local grocery store are easier than WM for MO,

Sure will hate for this to end on the 25th, been a good one for me.

Hope it has been good for others,

Surprised they let you get 9 since it is supposed to be limited to 3 (3 $200 cards). That being said, I did 3 $200 ones, then an hour later did it again in the same store with no questions. I guess their rule is quite liberal. My local OM is out of the $200 so I drove a little south of home to another OM and they were decently stocked. My WM kiosk is behaving badly atm and I attempted loading at a regular check out but I may go back and try the Money Center person.

Hopefully this is a worthy first post after lurking for so many months, but this one was too good to miss the chance to say "thanks" to the whole MP community... I got 3x200, and I convinced my SO to get 600's worth as well - except that they were down to he 100's and 50's.

Perhaps my first moment of really thinking "am I SERIOUSLY doing this?" came today when I loaded them on my Target AmEx - putting the $1000 limit on involved using -> 13 <- gift cards to pay for the single transaction (!) For some reason, the register reacted differently to every single card - some I signed on the keypad, others I didn't; most required the pin that I had called (separately, 13 times !) to set up but some didn't...

If only that poor cashier had switched off her light a few seconds sooner, her break would have started 20 minutes earlier !

Thanks again to everyone for sharing the ups and downs - and I hope you enjoyed hearing mine,

Most if the OM staff has been great about allowing me to purchase extra cards, I also suspect they save a few back, when I ask for the 200 variety they seem to find them.

I share with the manager, the game and one of them has fell in love with SW, and Chase ..Networking sure lays off.

This does not end till the 25th, and the grocery store has been selling me MO's

I am only buying 2 MO a day, and then depositing the MO in the bank to pay the bill, it will come in I am sure.

So my experience with this was that pressing cancel as soon as you swipe the card would let you chose debit. Just like using a debit card in the old day.
