    Hi Everyone,

I am an American living in the UK. I often field questions from friends and family asking about London, which is good, as I've learned a lot about the city and love to visit London. I live about an hour away and have learned about lots of other appealing places to visit as well, so I figured I'd start a thread with a list of "other things" to do outside of London.

Places that come to mind - I'll update as I think of others:
Bath - includes the Roman Bath...very cool!
Bluewater Mall - very "U.S. type" mall just outside of London
Burghley House - featured in The Davinci Code - neat old house!!
Cadbury World - in Birmingham - includes factory tour and samples!
Canterbury - city/cathedral - lots of shops and restaurants
Chatsworth House - in the Peak District
Dover Castle - the WWII tunnels were my favorite part!!
Duxford Imperial War Museum - hosts the largest collection of U.S. military aircraft outside the US and they have a Concorde!
Freeport Designer Outlets - in Braintree, about 12 miles east of Stansted Airport - great variety of stores and we found some great deals!
    Grimsthorpe Castle - Lincolnshire
    Leeds Castle
Salisbury - not far from Stonehenge and Bath
Woburn Abbey/Safari Park - we loved driving through the Safari Park - all sorts of animals to see up close, including tigers, lions, bears, giraffes, rhinos, ostrich, elephants, monkeys, and more!
