From a one dollar hot dog to a sixty nine dollar one, from a one dollar gellato to a thousand dollar ice-cream sundae, from a three dollar yellow rice black bean plate to a fifty dollar saffron rice seafood paella - you can find it all. In the city with four million flavors, it is hard to choose where to begin. Each family bringing their own style, their own method, their own technique, their own aroma, and an own interpretation of their cuisine.

There are many reasons to visit New York City, From Grand Broadway show to down basement standup; from classical opera to Harlem Jazz, from Art at the Metropolitan to that niche photography salon at the fourth floor walkup studio. Add to the list another one - A special one ! Unique amongst the scores of weekend street fairs - The 9th Ave International Food festival. , come rain or sun.
Every year for since 1973 from 57th street down to 42nd street (used to be till 37th St.) the restaurants, fish stores, meat stores, bakeries and food stores of Hell's Kitchen and the weekend chefs bring out their ethnic gourmet offering on to the street. Immigrants, and old timers, young and old, In crutches and in baby carriages, they all come to sample the flavors of the memories past.

In a city that is always on the run, it is a taboo to even contemplate when to stop. Not anymore ! From noon to five, Saturday and Sunday - Third weekend in May !

Ninth avenue is pretty damn good for eating even outside of the festival.

OK, I located the menu and how it looks

But the joy is to sample the street food in the Big Apple.
