    IB website dates I found so far are 3/22 - 4/4 it looks like there are more dates.

    still trying to find an quick turnaround for myself

    it's a 3 leg flight NYC -> LHR -> MAD -> JNB

    does this get 100% mileage?

    The flights I am seeing are on Iberia from LHR-MAD-JNB, so it looks to me like 30%.
    I had been very excited - I am glad that you raised it as a question. But it is quite a deal. I got similar fares from DC. I like Iberia's flexible search.

    I recently flew NYC->MXP AA IB codeshare and although I was supposed to get 30% I ended up receiving 100% so I would say YMMV literally. what I did was I called up after and gave them my AA record locater.

    That's because AA is the marketing carrier which are the rules that are supposed to govern mileage accrual. AA flight on any metal should earn based on AA rules, IB flight on any metal should earn based on IB rules (which Lindyhopper posted above). With that being said, numerous people have reported 100% credit that did not follow the stated rules including myself, so YMMV.

    3/25-3/28

    I am still thinking about this. But at 30% it is only 6,000 AA EQM, which isn't very much for 48 hours BIS. But 18K ...

    I couldn't agree more. I did this route once in economy and never again. I now have a personal rule that if I'm traveling to southern Africa, I have to be in business or first.

    This routinge has a 14 hr layover (10am-midnight) in Madrid to SA and a 7.5 hour layover (630am -1350) in Madrid back to the US.
    I took this trip with two friends down to SA for the world cup last year.
    On the way there we went out into Madrid for the day....we hit up a few cafes, few bars, botanical gardens, slept in the central park, saw a bull fight, had a great dinner and blew 350 euros. It was a great layover and we were drunk for about 11 of the 14 hrs.
    On the way back, I had to go straight to work in Nigeria.
    My friends headed back to JFK and went to a bar to watch the world cup while in Madrid for the 7.5 hrs.
    They also had a great time.

    So if you are willing to indulge in the city, then this is a great itinerary.
