As if we already did not know that Brazil had lots of international traffic INFRAAERO has just released the 2011 statistics. Overall the increase in international passengers disembarking was 36%, with Dec/Jan accounting for 18.3% of the total and March-May 21.3%. Now it is obvious why seats are so hard to get and expensive for half the year. Load factors on popular routes were also releases recently showing such routes as GIG-MIA with above 92% LF for the entire year on both AA and JJ. GRU-MIA similarly was in the 90%+ range. The lowest NA-GIG load factor is usually GIG-CLT which was 81.7%.

Several smaller NA-Brazil routes, notably BSB, FOR, REC, MAO had lower load factors. The seasonal upguaging and frequency increases that have been recently seen seem likely to increase.

In the meantime both KL and AZ, who only started service to GIG a few months ago, have just announced capacity increases.
