Now It's Fairmont's Turn to Be Kicked Out of a Hotel:eek:

Edition Hotels may still be making news, what with the management of the Edition Waikiki--now Modern Honolulu--kicking out the Marriott-hybrid brand. But that's not the only Hotel De-Branding going on. We've just heard that Fairmont Hotels has been kicked out of what was known as the Fairmont Turnberry Isle.

A tipster let us know that on Sunday, Fairmont was shown the door by the property's owners, Turnberry LLC, even though the hotel group has a 50-year contract to manage the place and despite a last-ditch attempt by some Fairmont execs.

Fairmont's executive team flew in on private jets to try to reconcile their differences only to be escorted off property by police officers (Not Hotel Security, Police Officers). Turberry Isle has spent the last 2 days removing all Fairmont signage all around the property, throwing away everything. Apparently, the marriage between the two wasn't working after Turnberry Isle reported a loss of nearly 4 million dollars in the last 90 days.

Indeed as The Wall Street Journal reports, it doesn't sound like it was up to Fairmont--Turnberry Isle's owner, the Soffer family's Turnberry Associates, announced that they were dismissing the august Canadian-based hotel company in a statement released on Sunday.
This apparently followed years of "warring" between the two camps, mostly over what Turnberry saw as Fairmont's "shortcomings in marketing the resort."(Kinda sounds like the Waikiki argument all over again, no?)

Turnberry Isle will now be run as an independent property and so far Fairmont has not commented on the situation. The hotel/resort/golf course still has its online home within the Fairmont website system although reservations are not going through. So we fully expect the Turnberry folks to set up something new fast, if they haven't already.

Not yet, seems to be difficult of getting news out from the inside! This is definitely an amazing development!
