I cannot make my trip to MIA tomorrow therefore I'm wondering if there is a difference between not showing up and changing my ticket. In other words, I have a $200 change fee regardless but does it matter if I simply don't show and get a credit for use in the future or change my flight to another day.

    TIA

It will be the same fee, change or no-show.

I don't know the answer for Delta, but for some other airlines, you at least need to cancel before your scheduled departure. You don't have to tell them what you want to change to (yet), and they don't collect the change fee until you tell them what you want the new ticket to be, but if you no-show, the entire value of the ticket is lost.

If I understand correctly, the value of the ticket can be used as a credit for future travel minus the change fee...right?
