For years we have gifted our daughter (who is a musician) and her sound engineer with Premier Status on UAL. Now that UAL no longer has status gifting, or at least we didn't get it, she is facing the realities of flying in true coach--bad seats, luggage charges, etc. She recently completed a West Coast tour and called me this morning from PDX, asking that I go on line and purchase her a year's worth of free baggage, using her credit card, of course. So I am madly scrambling to purchase "annual free baggage" for her while she is madly scrambling to balance the weight of her equipment. She finally gets the bags checked, makes it through secruity, just in time, and sends me a thank you text while seated on the plane. I responded that things are considerably easier when you plan ahead. She texts back, "You mean in the future?"
