I just hope we don't end up like Canada with 3 year contracts.

Since Verizon hasn't offered one-year contracts with iPhone4, this doesn't come as a complete surprise.

wiredboy is thinking along the same lines as I am, wondering if we're going to have the three-year contracts on the horizon.

  6. Bad news. I have been using the one year contract since phones change so often these days.

I always sign a 2yr contact, but get discounted phones yearly

Bad news from my viewpoint, too. I went with VZ when I bought the Incredible instead of Sprint's android primarily because VZ would do a 1 year contract and Sprint insisted on 2.

At least we have a week's notice. Now I need to decide whether to dump my Sprint 3G card in favor of the new VZ 4G hotspot.... that could save me a little money monthly & I could drop the hotspot feature from the Incredible (frankly, I'd dump Sprint now and just use the Incredible except that VZ limits the hotspot feature to 2 GB/month instead of the 5 GB you can get with the regular Wireless Broadband plan.)

I can fully expect to see 3 year contracts become the norm once ATT buys TMo.

Apparently VZ pulled the trigger early. I checked today - you can't buy a 1 year contract through the website.

I hate the idea of a three year contract. As an AT&T person I'd be more likely to buy an unlocked GSM phone. I just wish they'd give a discount on service since part of the monthly charge isn't going toward paying off the phone.
