Will this be the death of the Aer Lingus partnership?

I think the partnership was likely headed for the dumpster well before this dust up.

Hope it is not going to be soon. Have booked MAD-IAD for the end of March.

They should have been equal from the very beginning to be a real success! Will Aer Lingus learn a lesson or two?

I think that the route will survive but it will be brought back in-house.

Time for me to go and give EI a try next week I guess (cheapest option at this time to try EI J versus actually burning miles or purchasing a ticket)...

Do you think it might happen within next 2 months or later this year?

I thought that United had agreed to a short-term extension of the agreement, so my guess it wouldn't be for at least 6 months.

Good. I certainly need those miles to keep my status.

No idea on timing; cannot imagine in the next 2 months.
You'd get miles either way.

The crew I talked to are in denial on the closure of this route. Even if it hasn't been announced this route on EI is not long for this world.

As I understand it (and I'm far from an expert) this was always about airframe availability. With the merger and strategic re-allignments, I have to believe you're right and and the necessary airframes will be available after "rationalizing" joint East Coast-Europe frequencies on some routes.
