Hi. I am pretty new to the miles/points game. I am trying to book a trip to europe (I am thinking about arriving in Brussels and returning to the states from Zurich) this winter using my Chase Ultimate rewards points. I am young and am not too concerned about first or business class so I really only want to spend the 60K points on a saver ticket. I just want to know the best way to book the ticket and through what Star Alliance airline. I have found some routing via united available and taxes only amount to under $100. But I have been reading that most travelers seem to go with some of the smaller partners such as Swiss Air. Is there anywhere else I should be searching for my ticket to europe besides the major US carries websites such as United and US Airways? I am a little confused at this point and any help would be greatly appreciates. Thank you.

Search on the United site for options. You can fly on any of the partners using miles from your UR account transferred to United.

Without knowing where you are starting from or specific dates it is hard to make specific suggestions on route alternatives which might be better than others. Pretty much all of the coach products are just that - coach. None are spectacular though there are a few which are less good.

If you have UA elite status and you like/need a few inches of extra leg room, you might be more comfortable in UA Economy Plus.

I do not have any status at this point and I do not really care about the extra leg room...

I won't pretend to tell you where you should visit (though if flying into Brussels visit Ghent and Bruges; way more fun) but I can help with flights. Of all the options below I'd say AC is probably the best product across the Atlantic in coach. The US 767 is probably the worst, to the point that I'd take an extra connection over flying it TATL.

I have no idea how you plan to get between BRU and ZRH but if you want to fly it (or to a different city nearby one of them) you can add that on to the award as well. So you could fly in to BRU, train to Amsterdam or Paris, fly from one of those to ZRH and then back home all as one award (plus the train ticket).

I highlighted what I think are probably the best trips in blue.

For the outbound I see a few options:
