    Just a newbie iPhone question...

I currently have an unlocked phone. Can I simply swap a different SIM card in and have the settings automatically reconfigured or do I have to sync with my computer and download the settings that way?

I need to travel to different countries and don't want to take my laptop if I can help it.

I don't see any reason you can't just swap SIM cards.

You should be able to hot swap the cards, though sometimes it does require a reboot of the phone in my experience. Remember too that if you have a iPhone 4 it has a microSIM and that not all carriers even offer that as an option, though with the right planning/tools you can make any regular old SIM a micro one.
