Perhaps not for everyone, but this may work:

    1. Book an expensive trip. Use rewards CC.
    2. Buy trip insurance.
    3. Have a heart attack.
    4. Submit insurance claim for trip missed while in hospital.
    5. Await check from insurance.

Of course, YMMY. Scheduling the heart attack may be difficult. I will update when I actually get the check.

Should make sure your flight is departing from LAS or DFW!

Get the Quadruple Bypass Burger, Butterfat Shake and unlimited fries then let it slowly digest. I hear the nurses are cute too ;) If you get 2x on Dining then you get more points too so can't complain! :p

I'm going to guess #3 actually happened. In that case, I hope you are doing alright.

Wouldn't getting hit by a bus be a little easier to schedule?

Doing well, except that it itches where they attached the jumper cables. Planning a scuba trip in Feb. I think I will go with trip insurance again.

The insurance check is in my hot little hand. They refunded the travel expense but not the trip insurance premium. I forgot the premium. Out-of-pocket for the premium, the miles cost 5 cents each. Foo!

I think that if you know the wrong resources it may be easy to schedule as well.

Make sure you go to a hospital that accepts AmEx gift cards. That way you can get your spend, plus 1.6% CB from BigCrumbs!

OP... So sorry to hear that you had a heart attack. Hope you are back in the pink of health!

I don't think insurance premiums are reimbursed/refunded... You are actually buying the use of the the product, and in this case, you did use it. If it was refunded, then you won't be able to use it (the insurance), then you will be out of pocket for the entire trip!
