Janet Napolitano announced a replacement to the old color coded system today, which Ze Frank lovingly described as "Turf, surf, and the tequila sunrise" (http://www.zefrank.com/redalert/).

I look forward to no longer being annoyed by constant announcements that we are at threat level orange. For years on end. Although I remain skeptical that the US is under constant threat, I think at least now we'll only get warnings when there is actually something to warn about. We'll also get advice on how the public can help (e.g., be sure to take pictures of any explosion scenes with your cell phone before running away). Any other thoughts on the change? My apologies if someone else beat me to the post.

Well, I'm glad they will send alerts to Facebook, because I rarely use Twitter. Maybe we could get them to automatically post to MilePoint also.
