    Melbourne Airport has welcomed the Federal Government’s approval of its Southern Precinct Program.

    Phase 1 of the Southern Precinct Program includes development of a new domestic terminal facility, 17 new aircraft parking bays, dedicated ground transport facilities and significant road upgrades.

    The Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, Anthony Albanese, today approved the Major Development Plan (MDP) for the Southern Precinct Program, giving it the final regulatory approval required.

    Melbourne Airport CEO, Chris Woodruff, said the Southern Precinct Program was an exciting step in Melbourne Airport’s continuing development as Victoria’s aviation gateway.

    He said: “We welcome Minister Albanese’s approval and support for this important program of works which will enable Melbourne to become a centre of domestic aviation growth.
